First Day of Nursery Essentials

After the news that Prince George had started his first day of nursery last week, we thought we'd put together a few items that we think would be perfect for any child who is starting their first day as a pre-schooler! From adorable lunch boxes to sensible shoes, here's what we've chosen:

Clockwise: Backpack: Wovenlabelsuk // First-walker Shoes: Early Days  // Duffle Coat: John Lewis // Lunchbox: Marks & Spencer // Slippers: John Lewis // Toy: Harrods // Pencil Case: John Lewis

For a little prince's first day at nursery, a backpack is essential for storing necessities like a pencil case, stationary, books, toys and more. Make sure you choose one that fits your child's size well and make sure it has a label with their name/class/teacher on it so it doesn't get lost or muddled up with someone else's by mistake. A lunchbox is also a must for his first day, this one from Marks & Spencer and has a shoulder strap and carry handle, making it comfortable and easy to carry. Other essentials include slippers to change into while he's in class and the right attire for his school run, including a warm coat and sensible shoes.

Clockwise: Backpack: Cath Kidston // Shoes: Bloch // Coat: Burberry // Toy: Burberry // Lunchbox: John Lewis // Hat: Merry Berries // Pencil Case: National Gallery

With Charlotte set to start nursery in 2018, here are what we think she'd need for her first day. A quintessentially British brand, we think she'd love this backpack from Cath Kidston covered in a pretty ballerina print. It's very spacious with two compartments so it can store all her belongings easily. Comfortable shoes are always a must, and a cosy hat to keep her head warm.
